Our community plays a key role in deciding which subworlds to create! The first step to understanding what subworlds we could create next is for you to share your thoughts and ideas for new subworlds or support existing posts on the Feedback & Ideas page.
Here’s how we determine what subworlds to create:
What's required to create a subworld?
Scoping: A clear definition of what types of learning belong in this subworld, and what types don't.
Community Input: Clear indication from the broader Schoolhouse community that this is a subworld they care about.
Learner Demand: Demonstrated interest from at least 300 learners who are genuinely interested in the topic. The best way to capture this interest is on the Feedback & Ideas page.
Tutor Supply: Commitment from at least 100 certified tutors who are willing to teach the topic. The best way to identify and capture tutor supply is for interested tutors to organize on Slack and showcase their readiness by organizing pilots, creating curriculum, and generally hosting sessions etc. We can also gauge tutor supply based on sessions being hosted in Enrichment on the topic. For support on organizing, interested tutors should reach out to the Learning Community Lead on Slack for support. When tutors organize, they should share their progress with the Learning Community Lead on Slack.
Roadmap Alignment: Alignment with our strategic initiatives and confirmation from major stakeholders that this subworld is a high priority based on our current roadmap. This is a decision that the Product Team will make.
What will we launch out next subworld?
We consistently review community feedback and will evaluate if we launch new subworlds twice a year: during May-June and November-December.
There is no guarantee that we will add a new subworld during the aforementioned evaluation periods. Occasionally, we may add a subworld outside these periods if a special circumstance arises.
How do we prioritize what subworlds to create first?
We prioritize subworlds where we can answer yes to the following questions:
Is there significant demonstrated interest from across the community in having this subworld?
Right now, our community is primarily made up of English-speaking high school students taking the SAT. Does this subworld deepen the impact we can have on these students?
Do we have partners who can help drive this subworld to success?
By following these guidelines, we ensure that every new subworld we create is supported by a strong foundation of community interest, educational value, and strategic alignment.
