About

Hello, my name is Shayla, and as an SAT Bootcamps Reading and Writing tutor I hope to help you improve your reading comprehension skills. This will help you to then develop strategies to pull important information and evidence from the text to help you answer each question to the best of your ability. These stronger comprehension skills will also lend to understanding the nuances of language and sentence structure which will be a great tool if you struggle with grammar and word choice problems. I look forward to learning with you :)

This four-week tutoring series will help you prepare for your upcoming SAT in both Reading and Writing & Language. By the end of the series, you will have completed multiple practice tests and worked through a number of problems from previous SATs, helping you build confidence for your upcoming exam. You’ll spend each session with me and a small group of other learners who are also working towards taking the SAT. Since it’s a small group, you can expect sessions to be very interactive as you work together towards improving your SAT skills as much as you can! Note: Cameras should be on so we can all get to know each other! If you have a specific reason why you can’t have your camera on, please notify me ahead of time.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please do not miss more than one session over the four weeks, as that will negatively affect your learning and may also take up a spot from another learner who could have attended every session.

If you reach two unexcused absences, your tutor may remove you from this series.

Note from Schoolhouse: This series has sessions with required attendance. If you need to miss a required session, submit an absence using the "Submit Excused Absence" button on the series page. Multiple unexcused absences may lead to a suspension of your Schoolhouse account.

I'm a student from New York. I'm dually enrolled in college and High-School which gives me an intimate knowledge of college life which I hope to apply through helping others my age navigate the college preparation and application process. In my free time I enjoy hiking, writing, cooking, watching movies, and playing softball.

We will go over some testing strategies for taking the digital SAT and you will have the opportunity to take a full practice test on the Bluebook platform.

You'll have some time to review and reflect on your results from the Bluebook practice exam. Then, we will review questions you'd like to go over and end with group practice of a Focus Skill in the Standard English Conventions Domain.
