About

Hi, my name is Matt Berkery, and I can't wait to help you through on your SAT review journey!

I recently received a 1570 (770 R&W, 800 Math) on my SAT, and I feel well-versed and passionate in both subjects.

In terms of Reading & Writing, I plan to target more conceptually difficult questions, helping build students' fundamental knowledge of some of the SAT's trickier questions and concepts. Additionally, I will take on a multifaceted approach building up students' knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and rhetoric, as seen primarily in Section 2 of the R&W section. Hopefully, by the March SAT (first solely digital administration in the US!), all students will score as high as possible while adapting to the new format, which incorporates lots of different content that require new strategies to tackle.

I am responsive and will go at learners' pace, regardless of where they start at. My goal is to help students get the highest possible score through a combination of active learning techniques and lots of review. When we meet, I will go over students' specific questions and tailor interactions to target learners' particular needs, ensuring their understanding is as robust as possible.

If you want to prepare more, I love Khan Academy and Erica Meltzer books for R&W; these really helped me achieve the score I received. Good luck -- I can't wait to work with you!

This four-week tutoring series will help you prepare for your upcoming SAT in both Reading and Writing & Language. By the end of the series, you will have completed multiple practice tests and worked through a number of problems from previous SATs, helping you build confidence for your upcoming exam. You’ll spend each session with me and a small group of other learners who are also working towards taking the SAT. Since it’s a small group, you can expect sessions to be very interactive as you work together towards improving your SAT skills as much as you can! Note: Cameras should be on so we can all get to know each other! If you have a specific reason why you can’t have your camera on, please notify me ahead of time.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please do not miss more than one session over the four weeks, as that will negatively affect your learning and may also take up a spot from another learner who could have attended every session.

If you reach two unexcused absences, your tutor may remove you from this series.

Note from Schoolhouse: This series has sessions with required attendance. If you need to miss a required session, submit an absence using the "Submit Excused Absence" button on the series page. Multiple unexcused absences may lead to a suspension of your Schoolhouse account.
