About

Hi! I'm Josh, an A+ Calculus student and 5-scorer on the AP Calc exam. Welcome to this AP Calculus study group! We'll be going through the AP Calculus curriculum week by week, starting with limits and continuity and ending with applications of integration. We'll be learning together for two hours every Sunday night, practicing old FRQs and AP exam problems.

Session 6

Review

Today we're going to try something a bit different: last week I tried doing some one-on-one tutoring with people around individual questions; this week I'm going to try teaching a straightforward lesson in Calculus. At this point in the AB Curriculum, you're probably up to the most complex aspects of differentiation: optimization and related rates. I'll be teaching about how to solve those problems today. I hope you can come and enjoy!

Session 7

Review

After having gone over the most complex aspects of differentiation last session (i.e. optimization), today I either want to finish off with that and do a unit test with some really challenging problems, or go onto the next major topic in calculus: integration. Let me know what you'd prefer by joining our session at 7 pm EST today!

Session 8

Review

After some time for people to ask questions about specific topics, we'll continue with learning about basic integration/anti-differentiation, the process of evaluating integrals. Always remember to +C!

Session 14

Limits and continuity

We'll begin with an explanation of Limits and Continuity, including some challenging practice problems directly from past AP tests and FRQs. As always, there will be time for questions at the end.

Session 15

Differentiation: definition and basic derivative rules

We'll be looking into all different types of differentiation, and doing a kahoot based around differentiation rules. More practice FRQs to follow.

Session 16

Contextual applications of differentiation

We'll be covering what I think is one of the most important topics in Calculus: application of integration. Be prepared for a Desmos-heavy discussion of relative mins and max's, and how we can use them

Session 17

Applying derivatives to analyze functions

Some more of what we learned last week, but getting a bit more complicated. Unfortunately this'll be our last session for a little bit (I'm busy the next two Sundays), but we'll start again in March with integral calculus!
