About

Welcome to Chem Club! This series is for all you chemistry enthusiasts to learn new and exciting topics typically not typically taught in schools and to share your passion of chem with others.

This series serves as a chem community engagement series hosted by the moderators to bring a stronger sense of community and connections between members of the chem subworld.

Each week we will cover a new topic and play fun games such as Kahoot!s to challenge our knowledge.

Feel free to join sessions as and when you are able to, but we would love to have you as regular participants and form a consistent group. Looking forward to seeing you in sessions!

Tutor Qualifications

Claire: I have taken advanced chemistry courses at my university. Courses I’ve taken include General Chemistry, Introductory and Intermediate Organic Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. I've also take organic chem, gen chem, and biochem labs. I have worked for a biomolecular chemistry lab studying DNA repair and how to use organic and biochem to cure diseases at the molecular level.

Rahul: I've taken IB Higher Level Chemistry (international student!!) so I'm very familiar with challenging chemical concepts at least at a high school level, and have written a research paper combining my love for chemistry and math. I also took Higher Level Biology, which feeds well into the chemistry content that will be covered throughout the series.

About the Tutors

I am an undergraduate double majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology and Zoology. I am also minoring in Business. I speak 3 languages which are English, German, and Turkish. As a tutor, I am very passionate about helping students reach their full potential in school. I tutor biology, chemistry, writing, German, Turkish, and a variety of AP classes to help students prep for their exams. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, playing D&D, and watching movies/TV shows.

I'm a recent IB graduate from Singapore and I'm really excited to be a tutor here on Schoolhouse.world! In my free time, I like playing tennis and board games, and watching Jeopardy! I speak 3 languages (English, Hindi & Spanish) but am always looking to learn more :D On SHW, I'm a current moderator of the Chemistry subworld as well as an SAT Bootcamp Guide and Coach. I mainly tutor these subjects, too, but also like helping out in other topics, such as Calculus!

Other Topics

For our last session we'll be having a Reversed Classroom format where everyone should try to present a 5-10 minute presentation on any chemistry topic of your choice! This can be any style you like - be it a short slideshow or even just a verbal presentation. We encourage everyone to be as creative as possible, and don't be afraid to approach either of the hosts for assistance / advice!

Our final Kahoot! game of this series will be quizzing on all 16 topics we've presented about (roughly 2-3 questions max on each topic). Do check out the slideshows we've shared to do quick revision if you'd like, but it's not necessary!
