About

This series will cover the tenets of creative writing in short stories, poetry, and novel writing. This series is beginner friendly. We will meet twice a week at 9:00 pm GST.

Tutor Qualifications

I have been doing creative writing for a long time. One of my poems had reached the semi-finals in a country wide competition (Emirati Futurism Award) and I have entered several other competitions as well. Additionally, I took a creative writing course and got an A.

Orientation

This will be a meeting to introduce ourselves and go over some creativity exercises.

We will be covering the tools of writing (such as figurative language), will discuss clichés, and will be discussing common areas of difficulty.

We will be covering how to develop a unique writing voice, how to deal with self doubt as a writer, and how to get out of writer's block.

We will be covering conceptualization in novels and short stories. We will discuss how to generate creative and original story concepts. We will also discuss plotting, theme, and pace.

We will be covering worldbuilding in novels and short stories, and how setting can reinforce theme.
