About

Welcome! Toki Pona is a wonderful, cute language which I've recently become very interested in. It has only 120 words, which means that to express complicated topics, you use simple ideas. A computer is a "thinking machine," a friend is a "good person," and a teacher is a "person of giving knowledge." In this 5 session series, we'll go over 24 words per day, and by the end of the week everyone should be able to communicate in toki pona at a beginner level. Additionally, even if you end up not continuing to learn the language, learning is builds language learning skills, so it will be easier for you to learn ANY other language in the future!

Tutor Qualifications

I've been studying Toki Pona with some friends for a few months, and I have a good understanding of the grammar and vocabulary. I'm not fluent conversationally, but I can understand written text and I am absolutely at a level where I can introduce the vocab and basic grammar.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

You will be withdrawn from the series if you miss any session without giving the tutor prior notice. If you are going to miss a day, let me know! I'll send you the important information so you can catch up. Each day builds on the last, so missing sessions could make it hard to catch up. It is also highly recommended that you practice the vocabulary each day so that you don't have to look words up very often. Quizlet flashcard decks for each day will be provided.

About the Tutor

I’m a high school junior who loves learning, playing games, and having a good time. I know that math is hard for so many students, and I want to bring people a real understanding of math so they can be less stressed about their classes and maybe even come to love it. I speak english as a first language, but I also know toki pona at an intermediate level.
