About

Taking AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based this fall but worried that it will be challenging or you won't do well? In this series, we'll go through the AP Physics curriculum, not just to learn the topics. Instead, we will identify the conceptual ideas seen throughout the course and build mastery on them. And we will mainly work on the skills that seem challenging at first but are actually really easy to grasp. It's not just Physics we're learning, I will also teach you some study tips that helped me, we'll create great notes for each unit and I'll point you to some amazing review resources! The only things you must bring to the session must be pencils/pens, a notebook (or paper), a calculator, and a motivated mind to learn. I haven't added all the sessions yet, and they will be added as the series begins as I want to gather feedback from you, and what is best suited for you! Each session is subject to change in terms of content since some topics might be more challenging than others. If these timings aren't working for you, please let me know in the "Public Discussion" and I will work out something!

Tutor Qualifications

I just took this class my Junior year of high school (2021-22), and had a 100 average both semesters!

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please try not to miss more than one session at a time since each session will build on the previous. And please message the tutor in advance for any absences!

About the Tutor

Hi, I'm Ammar, a Sophomore at Emory University! I am currently pursuing a double major in Mathematics and Chemistry. While probably the hardest mix I could do, but its all about taking a challenge. Challenges are a key to our success, and that is what my goal at Schoolhouse. I want you to feel good after accomplishing your challenges. What was hard yesterday, is your strength today. So whether it be academics, college, high school or what not, feel free to reach out! I will do everything i can to make sure we succeed together. Your question is our mission.

Session 1

Orientation

We'll start this series by getting to know each other through icebreakers. Then we will watch some videos that showcase physics concepts in the real world and end off by going through exactly what we are going through during this series!
20
Jun

Session 2

Physics

Let's start with Unit 1: Kinematics, but only One-Dimensional Motion. We'll go over some basic concepts like speed/velocity, distance vs displacement, and acceleration. Then we'll practice with some practice MCQ. If we have time, we'll look at motion graphs and start drilling those into our brain folds!
22
Jun

Session 3

Physics

This session will begin by going through free-fall. Then we'll go through Two-Dimensional Motion, which is still Unit 1: Kinematics of the AP Curriculum. Since this topic is a bit challenging and involves a lot of math, so we won't rush it only during this session.
27
Jun

Session 4

Physics

During the first half of the session, we will finish up on Unit 1: Kinematics (Two-Dimensional Motion). Then during the second half of the session, we'll go through Unit 2: Dynamics (Newton's Laws of Motion) and the different contact forces. Finally, in the last 10 minutes, we will have a quiz on what we have learned so far.
28
Jun

Session 5

Office Hours

If yesterday's session seemed confusing, I'll be here during these office hours to help out clearing those concepts, and go over additional practice questions based on the needs of those who attend.
29
Jun

Session 6

Physics

This session will begin with going over the quiz we took in the last session. Then spend the rest of the session on finishing up Unit 2: Dynamics. There will be plenty of practice questions and time for learners to ask questions.
5
Jul

Session 7

Physics

In this session, we will begin Unit 2: Dynamics by looking at Newton's Laws of Motion and Free-Body Diagrams. And if time permits, we will look over the most commonly missed problems from the Unit 1A test.
6
Jul

Session 8

Physics

In this session, we will continue with Unit 2 by looking at more advanced concepts. We will review the concepts assigned for homework the previous night, and start to solidify those. There might be a quiz at the end of the session (instead of a test) over Unit 2: Dynamics.
11
Jul

Session 9

Physics

In this session, we will begin Unit 3: Circular Motion. This unit is more straightforward than the previous ones and it works together with Unit 1/2 nicely. By the end of this session, concepts of Units 1 to 3 will be mastered.
18
Jul

Session 10

Catchup

Let's ensure we know everything about Unit 2 before moving on further. Bring as many questions as you have for today!
19
Jul

Session 11

Physics

We will begin Unit 4: Energy as this concept has a lot of connections to other AP Physics topics. The session will cover the different types of energy, and then cover some conservation of energy practice problems to solidify our conceptual understanding.
20
Jul

Session 12

Physics

We will start this session by reviewing our previous session homework, then talk a bit more about Unit 4. In the last few minutes, I will BRIEFLY touch on Unit 3: Circular Motion and Gravitation, by just covering the concepts. There will be a test assigned to Unit 4 (including some concepts from other previous units as well)
25
Jul

Session 13

Physics

The first half of the session will be a "catchup" on our previous topics. Then, we will discuss Unit 5: Momentum. We will cover the basic formulas you need to know, then discuss collisions. Towards the end, except to have a quiz on this topic.
26
Jul

Session 14

Physics

This session will begin by speed-running through our last quiz, then talk about Unit 6: Simple Harmonic Motion and go over its basic concepts. Towards the end, I will talk about ALL the resources you have available to make you successful in AP Physics this year.

Session 15

Review

And that's it! Good luck with AP Physics this upcoming school year ✨! I will share my last tips and thoughts, and continue going over the resources I have provided! And maybe discuss about any potential sessions we will hold throughout the schoolyear!
