About

Hi, I'm Cas :) I'm a high school senior here to tutor students taking the December '22 SAT, specializing in reading and writing. I'm excited to share with you guys the specific studying techniques that helped me succeed on this portion of the SAT, especially when it comes to effectively analyzing and understanding literature and questions. I'll do my best to help you learn how to navigate the parts of the test you find overwhelming.

This four-week tutoring series will help you prepare for your upcoming SAT in both Reading and Writing & Language. By the end of the series, you will have completed multiple practice tests and worked through a number of problems from previous SATs, helping you build confidence for your upcoming exam. You’ll spend each session with me and a small group of other learners who are also working towards taking the SAT. Since it’s a small group, you can expect sessions to be very interactive as you work together towards improving your SAT skills as much as you can! Note: Cameras should be on so we can all get to know each other! If you have a specific reason why you can’t have your camera on, please notify me ahead of time.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please do not miss more than one session over the four weeks, as that will negatively affect your learning and may also take up a spot from another learner who could have attended.

Message your tutor if you have an extenuating circumstance and must miss a session. If you have two unexcused absences, your tutor may remove you from the bootcamp series.

I'm a high school senior in the midwest US, interested in studying music and psychology. I'm here as a SAT Reading and Writing tutor :) I listen to k-pop, nu metal, post-punk, & emo (used loosely) music, and read philosophical or nonfiction books in my spare time. I LOVE sea slugs.

Session 1

SAT Reading & Writing

We’ll start with an orientation to get to know each other. Then, we will review Standard English Conventions and Grammar in the writing section. After, we will work through a shortened practice exam and review questions you’d like to go over.

SAT Reading & Writing

We’ll begin by taking a practice test on a Literature passage similar to those that appear on the SAT. After we've finished the test, we will go through a presentation on important methods that will aid us through literature passages. We'll spend the rest of the session reviewing the practice test and targeting the areas we struggled with, and wrap up by discussing our plans for the next session.

SAT Reading & Writing

We will review SAT Testing Tips and strategies for tackling the Science and Social Sciences passages. We will do 2 passages of a practice exam, and afterwards work through an example together. After, we will review the exam and work through any questions you’d like to go over.

SAT Reading & Writing

We will review strategies for tackling the Science and Social Science passages. We will work through an example together, then do 2 passages of a practice exam. After, we will review exam and work through any questions you’d like to go over.

SAT Reading & Writing

We'll start off with a brief review of some general SAT testing tips. We will do a practice test on the Expression of Ideas section of the writing test, and then review some important concepts for this section. We'll wrap up by reviewing some of the questions on the practice test.

SAT Reading & Writing

We’ll start the session by reviewing strategies for a focus passage type (based on the results of the previous practice exams). Afterwards, we will begin the a reading practice exam and review any questions you have.

We’ll take another practice exam (Writing and Language). We will then review the exam and work through any questions you’d like to go over. We will end the session with a quick round of targeted writing practice.
