About

Are you taking Precalculus next year? Are you wanting to get ahead? If so, this 5-week series of sessions is for you! I'm Hemali - an economics and math tutor here at schoolhouse world and I want to help you understand trig and precalc concepts! This series is designed for students entering a Precalculus course during the 2021-2022 school year, and is based the Khan Academy precalculus and trigonometry material. We will first go over the entire Trigonometry curriculum and cover most precalculus concepts (excluding Matrices and Probability & combinatorics). You can preview the material here - https://www.khanacademy.org/math/trigonometry and https://www.khanacademy.org/math/precalculus . A knowledge of Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry concepts is required to attend this course. - We will meet at 4pm EST for 1 hour on Monday and Wednesday for 5 weeks. - There will be an optional catchup session each Saturday of the course at 3pm EST intended for people who missed a session or have questions. - There will be optional homework after every session in which learners will do problems from the Khan Academy precalculus and trigonometry pages. - You should have a pencil and paper handy to take notes and work out problems. You should also bring a calculator. - I will put the notes and optional homework onto this document - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1t3KSLDp2IxOWtxQ_AxEf7_aFcgE08M2AQibnyG-31_g/edit?usp=sharing - as the series progresses. I look forward to seeing you guys so that we can learn about precalculus together!

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

It is expected that the learner will attend every session in this series. If the learner has to miss a session, they should message the tutor before and attend appropriate Saturday office hours session. Learners who don't inform the tutor and miss the session more than two times will be withdrawn from the course because the sessions build upon each other.

Session 1

Orientation

Hi! Welcome to the course. Contents of this session: 1. Completing a quick survey so I can see what you'd like to learn from this course 2. Sharing with you my rough outline of the course so you can get an idea of what we will be covering 3. Explaining my expectations for this series/each session in the course 4. Demonstration and explanation of how to use the different features of a series that are not normally there in regular sessions. 5. Discussing the *possible* time change to accommodate learners schedules. Note that this is highly unlikely unless the majority of learners express their approval! See you there!
