Aryaman S

I am a Freshman at a magnet STEM highschool program in North Carolina. I love math and as a Freshman I have taken Calculus AB having already completed Math 3 and Pre-calculus in my middle school. I love the STEM field and for the past three years I have won awards at the state and at the national levels for my STEM science projects. Last year I was ranked among the top 30 in the nation by Broadcom and the Society for Science. In addition I have earned state rankings in Math Count and the Science Olympiad.

I also love music and am a wind ensemble enthusiast. I play the clarinet, oboe, and the alto sax. For the last two years I have been the first chair clarinet in the state and ranked among the first three chairs in the district for the oboe and the alto sax. Yes Math and Music do go together in my case! Just to confirm that I am not a complete nerd, I swim competitively with the silver Tyde at the YMCA and love to go hiking when I can!

In addition I volunteer with Crosby Scholars where I am in a leadership council, and also teach middle school students through a local volunteer group. I want to join schoolhouse because I want to help the community beyond my local area where I am already active. I particularly want to contribute to the efforts of Sal Khan since I have benefitted so much from his efforts through Khan academy.
