General Calculus Q&A

⭐️SUMMIT⭐️ — This session is intended for Summit students; however, anyone may join. In this session, we are going to play with the TI-84 in preparation for the AP Exam! ☞Solving equations ☞Find the value of numerical derivatives ☞ Graphing derivatives ☞ Storing values for precision in answers ☞ Evaluating a definite integral 🌼 If you have been working on some specific calculator-based AP questions (my area of expertise is AB only), then bring them along and we can use them 😀 (ps - if you have a non-TI calculator, I can't help you find specific features that we'll be working on - I only use Desmos and TI)

Trigonometry

In this session, we will review solving Trigonometric Equations 🎉 We will focus on the structure of the equations, which will help us to pick a strategy for solving, and we will use our calculators AFTER we solve by hand to check our solutions 🌼 recommendation is that you come with strong skills in using the unit circle - visit this link if you need a refresher ☞ http://bit.ly/UnitCircle1

Contextual applications of differentiation

SUMMIT — This session is intended for Summit students; however, anyone may join. ⭐️ In this session, we will use L'Hospital's rule to evaluate limits in indeterminate form. We will learn how to write the conditions that have to be set in order to use the rule, and focus on proper notation and the do's and don'ts of writing 0/0 or ∞/∞. Grab a copy of the notes we'll be using ☞ http://bit.ly/SummitCalcLimits

Contextual applications of differentiation

Last week we looked at the relationship that velocity and acceleration have to the derivatives of position. In this session, we will continue with this topic and explore interpreting the meaning of the derivative in context and rates of change in other applied contexts. We will be using Khan Academy 🎉to help us with our understanding.

Transformations of functions

SUMMIT — This session is intended for Summit students; however, anyone may join. ⭐️ In this session we will use Desmos to explore the transformation of functions, and learners will write out observations on their own Google Slide to keep as a reference. Khan Academy will be used to practice these skills ⭐️ The link for the google slide to use for this session is here - make your own copy to use on Wednesday → https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1S_Hx3MN8mL4JilzOQqUsu3UPyslkCkKfiXWvd2CaOsE/edit?usp=sharing

Vectors

Are you currently studying vector algebra and need some help in all the vector lingo?↘︎↖︎ Or how about the connection that vectors have in direction and magnitude to trigonometry? Bring your questions, make some recommendations below - there were a good number of requests for this topic, so tell me what you'd like to see 😀

Contextual applications of differentiation

Position, Velocity, and Acceleration! How does the derivative help us determine these relationships? What's the difference between velocity and speed? How do I know when a particle is speeding up? If you've already studied integration, we can also look at displacement vs. total distance traveled and how to use the calculator to evaluate the two.
