College Advice
GUIDANCE FROM (LIMITED) EXPERIENCE
Primarily for those applying to a U.S. college for undergraduate admissions this fall, so incoming high school seniors.
Background: domestic STEM and arts applicant with particular experience in the UC system and supplementary applications for music and other specialized programs; attending UIUC in Computer Science and Music.
There is so much to take in and process for college applications that frankly, I cannot and will not cover all of them in less than an hour. Instead, to make the best use of time, I'll be discussing the most important questions and frustrations that I've seen students have had in *my point of view* and host a Q&A sometime near the end. Tentative topics include organizing college lists, understanding financial/merit aid, choosing essay topics, and understanding the application processes.
While I hope you did some of your own research to build context, everyone is welcome regardless of where they are in the process.

SAT Reading & Writing
WRITING PRACTICE: PART 2
We'll go over the second half of the writing session (Q23-44) from the SAT March 2021 QAS to polish our writing skills and grammar rules in the context of the test; ideally, you are already somewhat comfortable with the SAT. I'll enforce time to read the passages to answer their questions, review them through discussions, and provide breaks (this is a long session: almost 1.5 hours). You do not need to do the passages/test beforehand, but please print the necessary pages to use during the session.
Note: This is part of a series of isolated sessions where I use the same test. You're especially welcome to follow me to be in the informal "cohort" of regular learners for a loose routine!

Trigonometry
TRIG. FUNCTIONS & UNIT CIRCLE - for SUMMIT students, but all are welcome!
Assuming you are comfortable with trigonometric functions and their graphs, we'll be reviewing a few key concepts and practice with some common questions. Agenda includes flexibility with unit circles and trig. graphs, benchmark angles, but is very flexible.

READING PRACTICE: History and Science
We'll go over a history and science passage from the SAT March 2021 QAS to polish our comprehension and analysis skills in the context of the test; ideally, you are already somewhat comfortable with the SAT. I'll enforce time to read each passage to answer its questions, review them through discussions, and provide breaks (this is a long session: almost 1.5 hours). You do not need to do the passages/test beforehand, but please print the necessary pages to use during the session (Q32-52).

General Geometry Q&A
COORDINATE GEOMETRY - For SUMMIT students, but all are welcome!
A somewhat new segment for me! Assuming you have a decent foundation of circle equations, linear lines, etc. on a x-y coordinate plane, we'll be reviewing our concepts and practice some problems. Main focus is on circles, parallel & perpendicular lines, etc. I'll try to think of more than just a bunch of circles with a bunch of lines interacting with it... (multi-circle fiasco? spheres? planes in spheres?)

SH.W WIKI WORK SESSION
For an hour, members of the community will be constructing and editing the unofficial Schoolhouse.world wiki to hopefully make public in the future. If you're a tutor interested in helping out, join the #test-wiki channel for more details! To everyone else, feel free to hop in and observe for a sneak peak at what's to come! Everyone can share their ideas and participate; we have lots to do!

IMPLICIT DIFFERENTIATION PRACTICE
Assuming you have a basic foundation of composite and implicit differentiation, I'm hosting a "problem sets" session where we can discuss problem solutions and fine tune our skills. I might show some more interesting problems that you might not see in typical textbooks because...why not? :)
Note: session not limited to AP students, but content will be at that level; I'll accommodate the best I can!

CHAIN RULE PRACTICE
Assuming you have a basic foundation of the chain rule, I'm hosting a "problem sets" session to solidify using this "formula" in a variety of contexts. This includes recognizing when to use it during differentiation and referencing function tables. I might show some weird problems because...why not? :D

DEVELOPMENT SESSION
Discussions for the future of office hours: training/certification, expansion, etc. Primary focus is on preliminary ideas and plans, finding areas to improve and how to start them. One of a series of sessions (second one schedule TBA, likely U.S. evening/India morning). Tutors and learners welcome to participate and observe! This is a big project needing lots of collaboration and a large workforce, so let's start off well!

L'HO(S)PITAL'S LIMITS AND GRAPH END BEHAVIOR
Assuming you have a basic foundation of L'Hospital's rule (finite and infinite limits), I'm hosting a "problem sets" session to solidify using these formulas (and realize why they work) by going through some problems and applications. This includes indeterminate forms and maybe rational limits. I might show some weird problems because...why not? :D

INTRODUCTION TO ANTI-DERIVATIVES AND INTEGRATION ∫
So now you've mastered basic derivatives . . . now let's move on to integrals! Join me in learning about antiderivatives and Riemann sums (the precursor to integration)! In particular: the concepts of left, right, midpoint, and trapezoidal sums; basic antiderivatives; integration notation; and perhaps applications. You're welcome to take notes, discuss as we explore, or just sit back and observe the wonders of introductory integral calculus!

AP SESSIONS DEVELOPMENT: EXPANSION, MORE TOPICS, ETC.
Almost a week after the AP launch, we're hosting an open discussion on next steps. Agenda (probably) includes reflecting upon first impressions, promoting for more learners and tutors, encouraging sessions in other topics, and other early steps. Beyond tutors and the team, we're especially encouraging learners to join to observe and share their thoughts!

LIVE COOKING - BOLOGNESE SAUCE
a.k.a. Ragù Alla Bolognese for you fancy folks:) Basically an Italian meat sauce with little (or some more) tomato. I need to restock this absolute go-to dinner source: make 21837921 gallons of it and freeze it into portions for happy days! I'm bouncing between popular recipes and trying some new things, so join me as I attempt to stream myself making this by holding a phone in one hand and breaking up meat clumps with the other. (Showing only the beginning/interesting stuff; I won't stream the hours of simmering.) Not exactly educational but we'll see...I can rant about home-cooking as I go.
