Introduction to Algebra

    23rd session

This course is designed for learners with a strong foundation in prealgebra who are seeking a more in-depth, comprehensive, and challenging alternative to a standard Algebra 1 curriculum. Using the chapters outlined in the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) Introduction to Algebra book, this series will cover key concepts in algebra with a focus on advanced problem-solving techniques and critical thinking. Course Details: Start Date: August 20th, 2024 End Date: TBD Schedule: Two 60-minute sessions each week on Saturdays and Sundays. Content: We'll explore essential algebraic topics, diving deeper than typical Algebra 1 courses, and tackling problems that develop a strong mathematical foundation and problem solving skills. Support: Make-up sessions and office hours will be available upon request.

Note that their will be more sessions that will be added throughout the series. Session 2 - Unit 1: Algebra foundations - Evaluating expressions. (Quiz 1 on KA). Session 3 - Unit 1: Algebra foundations - Combining like terms/Equivalent Expressions. (Quiz 2 on KA). Session 4 - Test on Unit 1: Algebra foundations Session 5 - Unit 2: Solving Equations and Inequalities - Equations with variables/parenthesis. (Quiz 1 on KA). Session 6- Unit 2: Solving Equations and Inequalities - Intercepts from Graphs, Tables, and Equations/Horizontal and Vertical Lines. (Quiz 2 on KA).
