Thanks for the advice. I can now make informed decisions on college. On a side note, I think why Tarun was experiencing audio issues. When he was in "flow" state while explaining, he faced side ways or away from microphone and so microphone was not picking enough signal to properly transmit it. Maybe next time , he can be conscious about speaking facing the microphone. Or it could be due to network issues, I am not really sure.

Hello Tarun I had interesting ideas exchange with you yesterday! I was really blown away by the fact that you'd read Deep Work and Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. Most of the ideas in those books can be found in the online review section and many YouTubers have already made its summary videos. It's really hard to find people who read Cal Newport's book. I myself have read Deep Work though😅. Except that the session went on really great Tarun. I enjoyed it thoroughly!!

Tarun, thanks once again for this awesome session! You as always, offer some really nice tips and philosophical tidbits that I will forever carry with me. And i also loved how your sessions are very light-hearted and conversational and I’m really glad that you’re hosting them again. It’s a refreshing break from all of the academic stuff 😆. It’s pretty much a no-brainer to recommend your sessions to anyone asking for school advice or for anyone just wanting a friendly conversation in general. Thank you so much for taking the time to volunteer here and for being an amazing person/friend/tutor!

Hello Tarun 👋, I just audited your session. I mean you probably hear it a lot, but these are some of the most useful tips , and I myself found them so so helpful. I love the formatting of your session. You always address everyone's issues and concerns before moving forward . I love the fact that in every session learners don't just listen, they interact , and obviously it wouldn't have happened without you hyping them up . I have always found your way of addressing problems very reasonable and no doubt you have expertise in what you do. There is not much that I can personally suggest these sessions are so good already. Thank you! for volunteering at SHW , Happy Tutoring:)) :-@ika

Hi there Tarun! INCREDIBLE session! Let me start off by talking about the introductions - I really liked how you used an icebreaker instead of the conventional "Introduce yourself and where are you from". Your icebreaker question - "I mean if you had a magic wand, right now, and you could optimize one aspect of studying in school what aspect would that be? Like, what study habits, would you like to immediately build instantly if you had the ability to?" was a very smart question because you based your session on those questions. All in all, it was a very good start. I loved how well you were able to expand on learners' questions. What I liked the most is that you never left any point unexpanded. Your talking style was extremely engaging and you were super passionate about whatever you were saying. I really appreciate all those links you shared; they were very helpful - I liked how you showed and spoke about the book you were going to read. You did a good job by addressing your network issues. I'm not sure if this works all the time, but I have found that turning off your camera for a few minutes and restarting it after a while helps your network stabilize a little. I have to mention that I learnt a lot by just auditing your session. I found your session very engaging and interesting :)) Overall, awesome work! Have a great day ahead! Feel free to reach out to me (Shreya V) if you have any questions or just want to chat :)

Being really honest in this feedback, I'd like to point out the reason why I refused to turn on my mic; It is my first session in quite some time (I have only attended two sessions till now) and I had zero confidence to use my voice. I hope you understand. And secondly, about the session; Here is some background: I was quite anxious about my future and how social media was limiting me from my goals and was worried about this for about a month from today, keeping this in mind I'd like to appreciate the neat answer you gave me today and all the various literary guidance you've shared. But most importantly you've inspired me to work towards the improvement of my life. I am really sorry I had to leave to session before you could conclude it properly. However I will be glad to attend your next session and have many more unanswered questions for you. And lastly..... Why were there no other participants in this session? I hope the next time there are more. It is always a great experience to discuss as a group. Thank You Tarun.

Hey Tarun! Wonderful session. You answered my questions extremely thoroughly and way beyond what was required, which I absolutely appreciate. Hey Tarun, I'm glad to see you hosting this session. I really liked this series because I could see how you are so dedicated to helping learners and tutors at schoolhouse succeed. I loved what you said earlier: that high-quality education should be accessible to everyone. I believe all of the students who have had you as a tutor would agree that the work you do here at schoolhouse is invaluable. I also agree with what you've said earlier about service and how rewarding it is. Whether you proceed to write the blog or not, I think you will still be successful on whatever path you tread.

Mathigon seems pretty interesting to dive in and use for different things such as a mathematical, probability free graphing usages, for us autodidacts and to use for school, and help visualize certain problems. Thanks! I would love to see more tools for historic archives, for example to learn more about certain ages or periods, history, writers. Also for language learning; for example practice. And of course tools that support self study. And being more prepared at college. Thanks again!

Hi Tarun, great session! Thanks for being super patient and encouraging in your Schoolhouse Tour session! I can clearly see your efforts to make Schoolhouse as user-friendly as possible. I appreciate how you tried your best to work around the language barrier and even offered helpful tips on how to study English. You were very welcoming and encouraging for questions. You also did a good job checking in on everyone and creating ample opportunities for learners to participate. The session felt very interactive. Keep up the good work and happy tutoring!

You really nailed this session Tarun! Interesting for me also to learn about Korean system that you did a good job asking. One thing, shw policy also suggests to not ask the name the of the school from learners since that reveals PII. AND I loved your session!! Here's a thing that I learnt that might help you in future sessions with competitions So, rank of a test is a function of consistency. Consistency is a function of motivation and enjoyment. Motivation has both external and internal aspects. Francis had good external motivation, but did he have internal? And what about enjoyment. You also talked about these things. How about relating to maths like the example I gave here? If you wish to discuss more of it. Feel free to message me (@Suryaansh) on slack. Have a nice day!

Hi Tarun! Good job with your session. Your energy, effort, and enthusiasm in promoting study tips and habits is infectious. I learned how it is important to put energy and enjoyment in every task that you do. I really enjoyed the commentary at the end of your session where you went over what you did in the session and having a growth mindset. I would also add maybe some light icebreakers at the beginning as well as giving your personal experiences on the study habits and tips that you are presenting in order to answer the questions of the tutors/learners.- Varun

That was the best hands-down session I ever had! I have to start there! The session i intended was a Q n A study habits. To be honest, I was skeptical going in because I thought a Q n A is what you do to enforce concrete formal information that is fed to you. But after this session, I will ALWAYS appreciate the dynamic back and forth conversation style of learning. Tarun is incredibly attentive to the students. When a student responds, he appreciates them sincerely for doing so in a way that encourages you and just wants to speak up and be inquisitive more. He goes into detail into every single section, getting excited when a new possible suggestion and answer comes to mind for a way of adeptly, deeply, and perfectly resolving your problem. Also, he is just so very knowledgeable. Even though i am supposed to give constructive criticism, there is literally nothing remote of something bad that I could even fathom. One suggestion i guess i have which is actually not for this session, but for all tutor sessions in general on schoolhouse, is for the students to interact with each other more. Connecting and sharing ideas, experiences, problems, and thought processes is a valuable commodity that students rarely get. However i do understand that such a way is upon personal preference but that's the only improvement that I could find that would enhance the already amazing platform of schoolhouse that this already is. Walking away from a session, you just feel so lifted, instead of suppressed by all your academic woes. They instead turn into gratifying moments of that spark and true intrigue that comes with real learning

“
Hi Tarun! I think you did a wonderful job in your first session! I really appreciate the fact that you set out the expections very clearly at the start and mentioned all the rules for the session. I also really appreciate the fact that you clearly mentioned that both modes of communication were okay: either through mic or the chat. It was great that you introduced yourself to the learners and asked the learners to introduce themselves to make a comfortable and welcoming environment. I also really appreciated the fact that you were welcoming learners who joined midway. Your answers to all of the questions were very elaborate, and you provided some excellent resources for further reading to the learners. It was very evident that you had done a lot of research on this and had a lot of tips, which I truly appreciate. Above all, the thing that stood out the most for me in the session was that at the end, you mentioned that these weren't your tips, but instead some research that you had done and the "collective wisdom of humankind", as you said. All in all, you did an amazing job in your first session! Thank you for volunteering at schoolhouse.world and wishing you a wonderful day and an amazing tutoring journey ahead! -Hafsah M
