About

Hi! I'm a Rashmi, a freshman, studying in India. I'm here to tutor in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Chemistry, Reading and Writing, and Chess. I've always been learning beyond my curriculum, so I'm familiar with advanced concepts as well (even skipped a year lol). If you have any questions on these, feel free to contact me!

💭 MBTI: INTP-T (Logician)

⭐ Hobbies: graphic design, listening to music, playing the piano, playing Chess, and writing poetry

🎨 Poetry and graphic design: I've been writing poetry for around a year, and publish it on Instagram. I've always loved graphic design, and recently learned how to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create posters and other designs. It's a creative hobby that lets me explore thoughts I can't really put into words while creating stunning graphics.

🎧 Music: I've been learning the piano since 2018. Personally, my favorite piece on the piano is Liebesträume No. 3 by Franz Liszt (he's one of my favorite composers, along with Beethoven and Chopin.) But my music taste is more than that! I also love Chase Atlantic, Arctic Monkeys, SZA, The Weeknd, TV Girl, Future, ABBA, The Beatles, and a whole lot more 😅

You used Khan Academy very well, you were able to teach your learner fluently with the resource. I could tell you actually knew the topic very well which was great to see.

Yes, there is clear evidence that Troy made progress during this session. Initially unsure about certain topics like empirical formulas and mass spectrometry analysis, he demonstrated improved understanding as the session progressed. For example, he successfully calculated molar masses and determined empirical formulas with minimal assistance by the end of the session. His ability to correctly answer increasingly complex questions indicates that your explanations were effective in enhancing his comprehension.

You effectively checked Troy’s prior knowledge by asking him to attempt problems independently before providing guidance. This approach allowed you to assess his understanding and tailor your explanations accordingly. For instance, when Troy expressed uncertainty about empirical formulas, you patiently broke down the steps and provided additional practice questions to build his confidence. You kept him engaged by encouraging active participation throughout the session, such as asking him to calculate values or interpret periodic table data. Additionally, you confirmed his progress by consistently validating his correct answers with positive reinforcement like “Exactly good” and offering constructive feedback when needed.

You demonstrated a strong understanding of chemistry concepts, particularly in stoichiometry, molar mass calculations, and empirical formulas. Your explanations were clear and methodical, guiding Troy step-by-step through complex problems like calculating average atomic mass, determining empirical formulas, and analyzing mass spectrometry data. For example, your use of dimensional analysis to explain conversions between grams and moles was both accurate and accessible. Additionally, you effectively tied the material back to real-world applications, such as interpreting periodic trends and understanding molecular composition.
