About

Hello! I’m Veeral, and I go by [he/him].

Location: Georgia, United States

Hobbies: Reading, researching new stuff, tutoring, music, competitive programming, and competitive mathematics.

Tutor: Currently tutor SAT math. Certified to tutor pre-algebra, algebra I, calculus, and college prep. Tutoring certifications pending for history, computer science, enrichment, statistics, and reading and writing.

Got accepted to multiple colleges in GA for majoring in math, data science, or computer science, but I am hoping to pursue a mathematics degree with a minor in data science in the future. But, I have applied to other out-of-state universities such as, UNC Chapel Hill, Purdue, Florida University, Stanford, Caltech, UC Berkeley, and UC Davis. I am still waiting decisions from all of them. Please feel free to dm me if you have any college application questions! I am excited to meet you all!

You demonstrated a thorough understanding of calculus concepts, particularly in evaluating limits, applying L’Hôpital’s Rule, and using small angle approximations. Your ability to explain complex problems step-by-step was evident throughout the session. For example, your breakdown of the small angle approximation theorem and its application to trigonometric limits provided clarity and helped Shailja understand the reasoning behind the process. Additionally, your use of visual aids, such as writing out equations and annotating them during explanations, was effective in making abstract concepts more accessible. To further enhance your teaching, consider summarizing key takeaways after solving each problem to reinforce understanding.

There is clear evidence that Shailja made progress during this session. Initially unsure about several problems, she demonstrated improved understanding as the session progressed. For example, she correctly applied small angle approximations in one limit problem after your explanation and independently solved another question involving trigonometric identities. By the end of the session, she was able to articulate her reasoning for solutions more confidently, indicating that your guidance effectively supported her learning.

You effectively checked Shailja’s prior knowledge by asking her thought process for each problem and encouraging her to share her initial approaches. This allowed you to identify areas where she needed clarification, such as the use of small angle approximations and summation properties in series problems. You adapted well by revisiting these concepts with detailed explanations and providing alternative methods when necessary. For instance, when Shailja expressed confusion about the summation property in the series question, you patiently explained it step-by-step and connected it to the problem at hand. You kept her engaged by asking questions like “Does that make sense?” and encouraging her to solve parts of the problems herself before confirming her answers. This approach ensured that she remained actively involved in the learning process.

You created a supportive learning environment by maintaining a patient and encouraging tone throughout the session. Your willingness to revisit challenging concepts multiple times and acknowledge Shailja’s contributions helped build her confidence. For example, when she expressed uncertainty about a solution, you reassured her by revisiting the steps methodically and validating her correct reasoning where applicable.
