About

Hi there! I am a high-schooler based out of the Bay Area in California and I am excited to learn and grow in this community. My STEM interests range far from joining FTC Robotics to building an app and I'm a passionate tutor in computer science and math, tutoring anywhere from the loops of python to the logarithms of Algebra 2! Outside of Schoolhouse, I love playing basketball, coding, and pursuing various passion projects.

You started off with a simple review of translations and equations to see what James remembered previously, then used his answers to explain concepts of logarithms. The only thing is that James always talked through the chat, so it was hard for him to be "vocal," but you were able to fill in the gaps anyway. When the session came to a close, you managed to wrap up loose ends and confirm at the very least, James could understand parts of the concept you were teaching.

You addressed your student by name from the start and kept doing so throughout the entire session, so I feel that you created a comfortable learning environment! Even though James only talked through chat, you managed to keep the session going and answered problems out loud while keeping an eye on what James was typing to see if he understood. And finally, at the very end, you told him that he made a lot of progress from when the series started, and I can clearly see that you boosted his confidence throughout the series as well.

I like how you used visuals through the Desmos graphing calculator, as well as equations you already put in your slideshow, to explain logarithmic and exponential functions. You explained things so well, I feel that I learned a lot just watching you explain these problems!

Yes, as the session progresses, the learner's answers are more accurate and slightly more specific and advanced than just one-or-two word answers.
